Alessio Albi was born in 1988, Perugia Italy. Although he is from Italy, he doesn’t include any Italian aspects into his photos. He went to college in Italy for Medical Biotechnologies and he also works as a nutritionist. He has an art and design background due to his childhood. Due to the fact that Albi isn’t a very well known photographer, there isn’t a lot of information about any important life events or even a lot about his childhood.
Alessio is most famous for his portrait photography. In many of Albi’s portraits, he incorporates trees, leaves, flowers, etc. to create a natural silhouette or frame within the photo. Many of his photos have dark tints and filters added to create more definition. He likes the natural beauty in the world, to show this aspect of his style he uses models with little to no makeup, and his photos are mainly taken outside. In the photos chosen below, you can see these three elements Alessio uses in his images.
Albi is inspired by nature. He loves the naturalistic part in photos. He often tries to incorporate aspects of nature such as trees, leaves, flowers and so on. He mainly takes pictures of women, spreading their hair over the nature in the background. There aren’t any people who inspire Albi, at least not that I know of. During my research I found it very hard to find any personal facts on him. He may possibly be a closed off person.
I have always loved dark natural composed photography. I think it adds way more emotional aspects into the photos. I will be using Alessio’s approach from now on in my photography. As many say, art should make you feel things, his images made me feel just that. His work is mystical as well as mysterious, well composed yet unordinary.
Each image I chose was selected based on the colors of the image as well as the people. First off the image of the girl with the freckles in the leaves, this was fairly easy to recreate. I used my brother, he held up some leaves that were slightly similar to the ones in the image, I also had to put a few in his pocket to stand up along his face. What’s funny is the picture I use was the first image I took. I took a few others, one with him in a tree but I didn’t get the same effect as Albi’s. I think my image has the same effect as Albi’s however I did decide to add my own personal touches to the image. The image of the girl in the river with a mirror. I chose this one because I knew it could be easily recreated due to the Huron River being so close. I chose a similar white dress, as well as a gold mirror from the Treasure Mart. This image was fairly easy to create. The image of the girl in the river was a little harder to recreate, I would’ve had to stand in the middle of the river, so instead we decided to do it along the riverbed. The image turned out nice, had my own touches since it wasn’t exact. Overall my 3 images, and Alessio’s were very similar, it was also a very fun project.
My photography style is very similar to Alessio’s. In my images I have always tried to include nature, it creates your very own staged background without any effort. In many of my photos I love to add a darker filter to create a more detailed and personal photo. During my research for a photographer, I decided to find one whose work coincides with my style. I found that the process of recreating these photos was a lot easier due to our styles being similar. I wanted my images to tell a story of sorrow, nature and beauty. Each image has a sad feeling. Although it was easy, I did have many struggles. While taking image 2 in the Huron River, I was fixing my sister's dress, not thinking about how deep the water was until I looked down to see my camera fully submerged in the water. Luckily after having put it in a bag with rice it started working again, but I did have to improvise at the moment and take the two river scenes with an iPhone. They turned out really nice. In the end I got a new camera lens, to take image 1. Everything had turned out alright.
